Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Newland

 

Bob is the founder and true visionary behind the growth and evolution of Newland in becoming one of the nation's largest privately-held real estate developers in the US. Under Bob’s leadership, Newland and its affiliates have developed, acquired, completed for its own account and managed for third parties a combined total of more than 140 projects, including master-planned residential communities, mixed-use centers, urban skyscrapers, corporate headquarters, and industrial parks. Bob has developed residential and urban mixed-use real estate for over 40 years. Prior to Newland, he was President and CEO of Genstar Land - USA (Newland's predecessor company), where he had complete responsibility for all residential and commercial development activities, including 20 master-planned communities in five states encompassing approximately 28,000 acres. Bob is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.  He has served as an active member of Berkeley's Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics for the past 20 years. He has been a member of the Urban Land Institute since the early 1980s and serves on the Board of Governors of the ULI Foundation. Bob was named Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year in the Greater San Diego Ernst & Young 2002 Entrepreneur of the Year competition.

Daniel C. Van Epp

Executive Vice President, Capital Markets and Acquisitions

 

Dan provides strategic and operational consultation to the Chairman of Newland, while also leading the company’s efforts in capital markets and acquisitions. Dan brings more than three decades of experience in real estate entity management and leadership, most recently as owner of The Van Epp Companies, a Nevada company engaged in the development and ownership of high quality real estate assets. From 1995 through 2004, he was Senior Vice President of The Rouse Company and President of its affiliate, The Howard Hughes Corporation. While there he led the development of the 22,500 acre Summerlin community in Las Vegas. Dan has been the recipient of numerous industry and civic awards and he is a three-term Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and a past chairman of the Community Development Council. He is a graduate, Cum Laude, of Virginia Tech.

Vicki Mullins

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

 

Vicki provides the strategic leadership and management of Newland's financial operations. She oversees capital management, financial planning and reporting, investor relations, accounting, tax, information systems, and risk management functions within the company. Vicki is Chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Executive Committee which are responsible for providing strategic direction for the company’s existing funds and projects as well as new business opportunities. Prior to joining Newland, Vicki was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Prometheus Real Estate Group, Vice President of Finance and Accounting at The Irvine Company, and Audit Manager for Ernst & Young in their Newport Beach, CA office. Vicki graduated with honors from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is a Certified Public Accountant and licensed California Real Estate Broker. Vicki is a member of Urban Land Institute's Community Development Council and past member of both the Multifamily and Residential Councils.

Douglas Hageman

Executive Vice President and General Counsel

 

Doug is responsible for the oversight of all legal matters affecting Newland and its affiliated companies. He provides support and direction for Newland’s In-House Counsel, as well as advising on risk management, litigation matters, finance/lender issues, workouts/restructurings, employment issues, construction projects, acquisitions/dispositions, development/entitlement issues, corporate governance, and other real estate management related matters. Doug is a member of both the Investment and Executive Committees for Newland providing strategic direction on existing projects and new business opportunities. Doug was previously Senior Vice President, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel for TrizecHahn Development Corporation. Doug received both his Bachelor’s Degree (graduating Magna Cum Laude) and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of San Diego. He is admitted to practice law in the State of California. Doug has been a licensed California Real Estate Broker since 1988.

Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki

Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer

 

Teri is responsible for marketing, research, brand strategy, communications, CRM, and consumer e-business across the company's operating divisions nationwide. Teri is an integral member of the regional development teams, collaborating on community design and development. She provides leadership on new community envisioning and planning and the implementation of marketing strategies for Newland's real estate portfolio, helping operating divisions maximize their potential contribution to the company and our development partners. Prior to joining Newland, Teri ran her own advertising and marketing agency for 10 years, specializing in real estate, resort development and education. Teri has held marketing leadership positions in private, government and large public corporations, including as a member of Intrawest Corporation's management team in their resort development and operations business. She is a frequent presenter at national marketing and real estate conferences and has judged national advertising award competitions. Teri studied Journalism at Carleton University and is a graduate of Simon Fraser University with a double major in Communications and Sociology.

Tim Durie

Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Tim is responsible for directing the attraction, development and retention of Newland’s team members who make up one of the most experienced and innovative teams in real estate today. In addition to the compensation and benefits functions, Tim advises management in policy and program matters, effective organization structure and strategies to improve organizational and team member performance. He also oversees the development and delivery of training and education programs for the company. Throughout his career Tim has held numerous positions in the areas of labor relations, employee relations, executive search, and as a human resources generalist. Prior to joining Newland, Tim was the Director, Human Resources for Dallas-based developer Terrabrook. Before this he served various Human Resources positions in professional services and operations companies. Tim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
